West Portal Elementary School is recognized as one of only a handful of California Distinguished Elementary Schools. The core of its success comes from our talented staff, eager children, committed parents, and of course supportive community.
As you may know, public school funding has been cut to the bare bones. The San Francisco Unified School District does NOT provide funds for a full-time Music and Art Instructor, a full-time Librarian, an Outdoor Science/ Garden Instructor, a Student Support Consultant, classroom technology and PE equipment. The West Portal Parents Club funds these essential programs.
We are asking, on behalf of the 592 K-5 children who attend West Portal Elementary, to support our biggest fundraiser of the year which is our annual Spring Auction.
The event will begin with an online auction from March 9-17, 2015, and culminate in a live auction event on March 21, 2015. In order to avoid cutting the programs mentioned above, we must raise $70,000 at this year's event. This is an enormous challenge.
