Volunteering in Room 5
Many parents have asked about how they can help in and out of the classroom this year, and I am so grateful!! This is a list of ways that people can help. If you have any special skills or ideas that are not listed here, please let me know. Also, please feel free to ask questions if this list is unclear. Thank you!
Tuesday and Wednesday morning 9:00 – 10:00 Small Group Activities
(Assist a group of five children as they complete a writing, math, science, or social studies activity)
Thursday 11:00 - 11:45 Help children write biographies about the Student of the Week
Friday 10:30 – 11:45 Writer’s Workshop Help children edit and type their stories
Everyday! (except Wednesday) 12:30 – 1:15 WEB Reading time
- Read with individuals and ask questions to assess comprehension
(I will give you a list of questions)
-Lead a book group with 3-5 students
-Help beginning readers with “sight word” flashcards or other word games
-YOU CAN ALSO HELP KIDS TYPE STORIES AT THIS TIME

Various times/Days – GARDEN HELPER!! Anytime
- Adults can come in and share about special jobs, skills, interests, abilities or other knowledge. The kids learn a lot from adults that are willing to share with the class.
At Home – Type children’s stories
– Collect “junk” for art projects
– take home and correct workbooks etc.
