A Letter from Our New Vice Principal

Dear West Portal Families,

My name is Karen (Kay) Lee and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new assistant principal of West Portal Elementary School. I’m having a blast collaborating with the WP Community andlook forward to meeting more students, staff, and families!

A little about myself: I have worked in education for a little over a decade. I have taught 1st-7th grade and have worked at international schools in Shanghai, China and Puebla, Mexico. I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish. I also graduated from UC Berkeley’s Principal Leadership Institute (PLI) and am honored to take on an administrative position here at West Portal. Prior to coming to West Portal, I was an Assistant Principal at Carver Elementary in the Bayview. Before that role, I was an Instructional Reform Facilitator at Sheridan Elementary.  I value an inclusive and welcoming environment, building strong relationships with students, teachers, and the community and working together as a team.

In addition to planning for the school year, my priority this year is to listen, learn, collaborate with your child and our families – one of our most important partners. Thanks in advance for your warm welcome and I look forward to a wonderful year!

Best Regards,

Kay Lee, Assistant Principal
