Outstanding support from our parents makes West Portal one of the best elementary schools in San Francisco.
As we start a new school year we write to ask for your financial support of the West Portal Parents Club Education Fund. This year West Portal was named a California Distinguished School. This honor is a testament not only to our wonderful teachers and hard-working students but also to the strength of the entire West Portal community. Please help keep that community vibrant by making your annual contribution to our Ed Fund.
Though tax dollars pay for the basic infrastructure at West Portal, without financial contributions from all of our families many of the activities and educational opportunities that your child loves would not exist, such as Chinese Performing Arts Program and the Spring Musical. Your money goes directly to fund music education with our beloved Ms. Susan, hands-on nature exploration with our green-thumbed master Mrs. Mack, library time with our book maven Ms. Moir, Kindergarten Perceptual Motors with the ever-patient Ms. Nadine and Ms. Jennifer, and community building with our head bucket-filler Mrs. Callaghan.
Special Project for 2014-2015: Our students need computers to support research, testing and common core curriculum tools. With your help, the Parents Club will purchase computers for all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms this year and hopes to include K, 1st and 2nd grades next year.
Fundraising Goal: To support all of our programs we aim to raise at least $115,000 though direct donations and corporate matching to our Ed Fund. Last year we raised $108,000, an impressive number but still significantly less than other top public schools in San Francisco. Working together we can meet or, even better, exceed this goal!
Suggested Family Contribution: Our standard request is $475 for families with one student or $725 for those with more than one. However, we ask that every family give the most substantial gift possible – some families give $10, others give $10,000. Ed Fund donations are 100% tax deductible. All donors will be recognized equally on our annual donor’s list, regardless of donation size.

Please check the List of Companies that Match Donations to see if your company matches donations, or ask your HR representative.
To donate, please follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Fill out this form.
Please print the form and fill it out in its entirety.
Step 2: Check to see if your company matches donations.
Did you know that many companies large and small will match your donation? West Portal gets TWICE as much money this way! So we strongly encourage you to check if you or your spouse works for such a company.
Some schools make up to $40,000 each year through company matching alone. Please help West Portal to become one of those schools. It's free money for us -- the best kind!
Please check the List of Companies that Match Donations to see if your company matches donations, or ask your HR representative. Let us know on your form if your company appears on the list.
Step 3: Send us your donation.
You may donate either online (below) or by sending us your donation. Online is our preferred method.
Please send your form from Step 1 above along with your donation. You can drop them off in the school's office, in your child’s Thursday folder, or mail them to: 5 Lenox Way, San Francisco, CA 94127.
