Dear West Portal Families,
My name is Jackson Livingston and I am the new Site Director for the Stonestown YMCA Before & After School Program at West Portal Elementary. I am very excited to bring my experience and passion for Youth Development to the West Portal Community. I am originally from Salt Lake City, Utah where I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Physical Education Teaching with a Minor in Health Teaching. In Utah, I was able to work for a non-proft called Playworks, where I was able to teach students about conflict resolution, the power of positive language, and how to learn through play. I also was able to teach 8th grade health for 3 years before moving to San Francisco. I am coming to the Stonestown YMCA from the Buchanan YMCA where I have been the past 3 years. Previously, I was the Site Coordinator at New Traditions Elementary and Chinese Immersion School De Avila, as well as the Camp Director for the Buchanan branch. I absolutely love working for the YMCA and I am so excited to add this community to the Stonestown Y family.
Youth Development is one of my greatest passions. As a member of the YMCA of SF STEAM Academy, integrating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) into our after school programs is one of my areas of strength. I enjoy watching students, staff, and families realize that STEAM is all around us and there are endless possibilities for learning and exploring. Outside of work, I’m also a very passionate basketball fan (Go Jazz) and love to be outdoors. I love to cook food, and eat food. I love living in San Francisco and have enjoy exploring the city.
Students also participate in the programs listed below. These are all third parties, not affiliated with West Portal School. Please contact the organizations directly for additional information.
