About the West Portal Parents Club
The mission of the West Portal Parents Club (WPPC) is to promote and enrich the quality of education; to develop a closer connection between school, home, and community; and to raise funds for school programs.
Membership and Meetings
Every parent and guardian of a student who attends West Portal Elementary School is automatically a member of the Parents Club. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in and even volunteer to help with all Parent Club functions.
The West Portal Parents Club holds one meeting per month (usually on the first Thursday, check the online calendar for exact dates). Every other month is an 'All School" parent club meeting or a "Board" only meeting (where all parents are welcome to attend). The five All School meetings each year will have a topic such as Homework, Literacy, Restorative Practices, Common Core standards, GATE, etc. At the four Board meetings per year, the school's 20 member board will handle school business and conduct votes as necessary. All parents are welcome to attend and participate in discussion, only the 20 member board can vote. Childcare (for those over three years of age) is provided for all meetings.
